Funeral Transport from Spain to Croatia

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Repatriation from Spain to Croatia, handled from start to finish
Losing someone far from home is hard enough without having to deal with foreign authorities and paperwork in another language. We collect the deceased anywhere in Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Málaga, Seville, and bring them with dignity to any town or city in Croatia, such as Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar.
Over this distance there are two options. By hearse via southern France and northern Italy, which keeps the deceased in one vehicle from start to finish, or by air for the fastest arrival, with hearse transfers to and from the airports (Madrid (MAD), Barcelona (BCN) or Málaga (AGP) and Zagreb (ZAG) or Split (SPU)).
The family does not need to travel to arrange anything. We work directly with the hospital, the registry office, the consulate where needed, and the cemetery or funeral home in Croatia.

Documents for funeral transport from Spain to Croatia
In Spain the death is recorded at the Civil Registry (Registro Civil), which issues the death certificate (certificado de defunción). The health authority of the autonomous community authorises the international transfer of the remains (traslado internacional de cadáver).
For international transport the following documents are usually required. We obtain them on behalf of the family:
- Civil death certificate, ideally the international multilingual extract
- Medical certificate confirming the cause of death is not infectious
- Corpse passport (laissez-passer) for international transport
- Certificate of embalming or preservation, where required
- Certificate confirming the zinc-lined coffin has been sealed
- Copy of the passport or ID card of the deceased
On arrival in Croatia we coordinate with the cemetery administration and the local funeral service. Croatia is in the EU and in Schengen, so there are no customs formalities from other EU countries.

How the transport works
- You call us. One phone call, any time. We ask a few questions and explain what happens next.
- We collect the deceased from the hospital, care home, home or mortuary and take them into our care.
- We handle all documents with the registry office, the authorities, the consulate and the cemetery at the destination.
- Preparation and coffin. Washing, dressing, embalming where needed and placement in a sealed zinc-lined coffin for international transport.
- Transport by our own hearse or by air, on the fastest legal route.
- Handover at the destination to the family, the receiving funeral home or directly at the cemetery.
Once the documents are ready, which usually takes a few working days, the journey itself takes about 17–22 hours. We tell the family the exact departure and arrival times as soon as they are confirmed.
