Funeral Transport from France to Germany

When someone passes away in France and is to be laid to rest in Germany, we take care of everything: collection, documents, preparation and transport to the place of burial or cremation. One call is enough, at any hour.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Repatriation from France to Germany, handled from start to finish

Losing someone far from home is hard enough without having to deal with foreign authorities and paperwork in another language. We collect the deceased anywhere in France, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Strasbourg, Nice, and bring them with dignity to any town or city in Germany, such as Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne.

We drive the deceased by our own hearse, door to door, from Paris and anywhere else in France directly to the place of rest in Germany. The usual route runs via Saarbrücken and Metz. There is no transfer between vehicles and the deceased is accompanied the whole way.

The family does not need to travel to arrange anything. We work directly with the hospital, the registry office, the consulate where needed, and the cemetery or funeral home in Germany.

Documents for funeral transport from France to Germany

In France the doctor issues the medical death certificate, the town hall (mairie) registers the death and issues the death certificate (acte de décès), and the prefecture authorises the transport of the body abroad. For international transport the deceased is placed in a hermetically sealed coffin.

For international transport the following documents are usually required. We obtain them on behalf of the family:

  • Civil death certificate, ideally the international multilingual extract
  • Medical certificate confirming the cause of death is not infectious
  • Corpse passport (laissez-passer) for international transport
  • Certificate of embalming or preservation, where required
  • Certificate confirming the zinc-lined coffin has been sealed
  • Copy of the passport or ID card of the deceased

On arrival in Germany we agree the burial or cremation date with the cemetery administration (Friedhofsverwaltung) and the receiving funeral home. German law generally requires burial in a cemetery, so the place of rest is confirmed before departure.
