Funeral Transport from Italy to Croatia

When someone passes away in Italy and is to be laid to rest in Croatia, we take care of everything: collection, documents, preparation and transport to the place of burial or cremation. One call is enough, at any hour.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Repatriation from Italy to Croatia, handled from start to finish

Losing someone far from home is hard enough without having to deal with foreign authorities and paperwork in another language. We collect the deceased anywhere in Italy, including Milan, Rome, Turin, Bologna, Verona, and bring them with dignity to any town or city in Croatia, such as Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar.

We drive the deceased by our own hearse, door to door, from Milan and anywhere else in Italy directly to the place of rest in Croatia. The usual route runs via Trieste and Slovenia. There is no transfer between vehicles and the deceased is accompanied the whole way.

The family does not need to travel to arrange anything. We work directly with the hospital, the registry office, the consulate where needed, and the cemetery or funeral home in Croatia.

Documents for funeral transport from Italy to Croatia

In Italy the death is registered with the municipality (Comune), which issues the death certificate (certificato di morte). The mortuary passport (passaporto mortuario) needed for transport abroad is issued by the competent Italian authority after the local health authority has checked the sealed coffin.

For international transport the following documents are usually required. We obtain them on behalf of the family:

  • Civil death certificate, ideally the international multilingual extract
  • Medical certificate confirming the cause of death is not infectious
  • Corpse passport (laissez-passer) for international transport
  • Certificate of embalming or preservation, where required
  • Certificate confirming the zinc-lined coffin has been sealed
  • Copy of the passport or ID card of the deceased

On arrival in Croatia we coordinate with the cemetery administration and the local funeral service. Croatia is in the EU and in Schengen, so there are no customs formalities from other EU countries.
